One of my favorite bloggers, Tracy, at Shutterbean, does this amazing weekly blog series where she collects and shares her favorite photos from the week in a little casual recap. I love to read it each week, and I have long thought that I wanted to do that too! So I’ve decided why not?
So without further ado… here’s my real life from the first week of 2017.
I finally got around to putting the Christmas decor away on Monday. Goodbye until next year, Mr. Penguin!
We got a few “baby’s first Christmas” ornaments this year, but I think this Willow Tree one (a gift from my friend, Sydney) is my favorite.
Food prep during nap time. This was some bacon, bell peppers, and spinach that ultimately went into a frittata that I ate for breakfast 3 times this week. I’m trying to get back to a lower carb diet, since it has worked so well for me, but breakfast is an especially hard meal to prepare when I’m home alone with the kiddos. I found that a little prep helps me stay more on track.
It rained nearly every day this week.
WET.
I’ve been super productive, though. And, confession: sometimes I write things on my to-do list that I’ve already done, just so I can check them off. #typeA
Like reorganizing the baby dresser. It makes me a little sad to already be putting away all of the newborn sizes.
But when I’m not running around being super-efficient, this is what my life looks like a lot of the time. Note the coffee cup. SO MUCH COFFEE.
Jack sure likes his play mat.
A candid moment. My heart essplode.
I’ve been back at the gym for a couple of weeks now. Barre is a class that kicks my ass every time, but I kind of love it. And I’m finding that the exercise is just as good for my sanity as it is for my body.
Jack and I also went for a long hike this week!
We finally got a break in the rain, so we got out to Henry Cowell State Park with the local Hike It Baby group.
The redwoods are TALL.
I carried Jack in my Baby K’tan carrier, and he slept for the entire 2 hours we were out.
The view from the top was amazing! It was a perfect day, and, even though the photo doesn’t do it justice, we could actually see the ocean from the top!
I took lots of photos, and then had fun editing them afterwards. I half expected Frodo to show up after I finished this one.
This is a train trestle we passed under.
The moss is proliferative right now.
A little wisdom at the sandwich shop.
I’m a sucker for pulled pork.
And that’s a wrap for this week. How was your first week of 2017?
