Oliver loves to be outside.
I love his little old man hairline. It’s like he’s balding in reverse.
Pensive.
This boy loves his daddy.
Also, look at those muscly legs! As much as he likes to stand, he might walk before he crawls.
GUYS. I can’t believe I have to go back to work tomorrow. How has it been 12 weeks already? /uglycry
I gave the boys some time to practice with the nanny this week, but didn’t really have anything to do so early in the morning. So I went back to The Verve and spent most of it reading. It was eerily quiet at 7 am. But I got my favorite spot!
Also, can we talk about how pretentious it feels for me to use the word “nanny?” For the longest time I had it in my head that only rich, arrogant people have naaaaaannies. But the word “babysitter” just doesn’t seem right for someone who is basically going to mother my child in my home for 40 hours per week. Guess I’ll have to get over it. (Also, our nanny happens to be totally awesome, and this is absolutely judgement on myself and not at all on her, just to be clear. 😉 )
Look what a difference 2 hours makes!
I may or may not have had 2 lattes while I was there. (The second may or may not have been decaf, as justification.)
Someday I want my daily morning routine to be coffee + newspaper at my favorite coffee shop, too.
I let him nap on me as much as he wanted this week.
I’m just trying to soak in every last minute.
Robbie went back to work after baby leave this week, too. But before he did, we had a nice breakfast at our favorite spot, just the three of us.
Heavenly Roadside Cafe makes the best Eggs Benedict in Scotts Valley.
Heaven is a runny poached egg topped with Hollandaise sauce. Yum.
We went back on Saturday with Robbie’s sister, Chrystal, and her tribe. I ordered Robbie’s usual, the “Breakfast at Tiffany’s”, which is basically the most epic cinnamon toast you’ll ever eat.
Man, I can’t believe how big James is getting. He’s gonna be driving before we know it.
What a little flirt.
Savannah, my BFF since middle school, and I used to combine our initials into a little brand. I’ve since done it with mine and Robbie’s initials… if you look closely there’s a J, F, S, R, & T.
A workout that I didn’t want to do, but did not regret. In fact, I regretted it so little that I went back the next day and did it again.
I forget sometimes just how good exercise is for my brain. I’m always tired and never excited about working out, but by the time I’m done I realize that I needed that time to let my mind wander and those endorphins to boost my mood. Must remember this.
A little urban sanctuary.
Artemis likes to pout like this when she thinks she’s not being loved enough.
We’re working on not hating tummy time. Any tips are greatly appreciated.
He is, however, beginning to like toys! He’s not reaching for them yet, but he does look at them and smile when they do funny things.
A kitty and his box.
And now I’m off to do ALL OF THE FOOD PREP in preparation for going back to work. I might also get to watch a little of the Super Bowl from my kitchen, we’ll see…
Seeya next week!
